Atlanta Music Project

THE CHARITY OF THE MONTH FOR MARCH 2018 IS:

Founded in 2010, the Atlanta Music Project provides intensive, tuition-free music education for underserved youth right in their neighborhood. Inspired by Venezuela’s El Sistema, AMP believes the pursuit of musical excellence leads to the development of confidence, creativity and ambition, thus sparking positive social change in the individuals and the communities we serve.

Atlanta Music Project's Mission Statement is "To empower underserved youth to realize their possibilities through music.” Atlanta Music Project will serve over 300 students weekly through our after-school programs and the AMP Academy, our private lesson program. All AMP programs are rigorous with classes taking place up to four days per week, for two hours each day. As we believe all children are musical, we do not hold entrance auditions or require students to have any musical experience. The only thing required for a student to be in AMP: commitment to attending all classes. The Atlanta Music Project provides for each of its students: an instrument, classes, world-class Teaching Artists and numerous performance opportunities. AMP classes include orchestra, choir, musicianship, ear training, music theory, African drum and dance and group lessons in the following instruments: violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, voice, piano, and guitar. As AMP and AMPlify expand, we will offer oboe, bassoon, french horn, tuba, orchestral percussion, and electric bass.
